The embroidered clothing worn by the local women from the Hani and Yi ethnic minorities in Yuanyang is so incredible. I spent a long time at this market watching and admiring how gorgeously dressed the women were.
Wurst im Brot, Berlin

Last October, we went out to Gruenewald for a walk in the woods with Kai, Christin and Emily. In very German fashion, the trail ended at an old brick tower with a biergarten surrounding it and views of the river. We sat in the sun and ate wurst and drank wine spritzers and I worried about getting sunburnt but everyone assured me I could begin to relax my extreme vigilence about UV factor in Berlin in Autumn.

Ok this is probably a weird assortment of pictures but they were all taken one afternoon after we visited the zoo in Chapultepec to see the PANDAS. I saw pandas. Finally! And I didn't get a good picture at all, so here is a carousel and a food stall and an incredible chorizo huarache.

This is a rather amazing market in the historic, gritty, densely packed downtown end of the Centro district. We had a slow, slack-jawed wander through here on our way between visiting the Centro de la Imagen and drinking pulque at Las Duelistas. There is everything here.

This food market is a perfect place for lunch after a visit to the Museo Frida Kahlo - I especially recommend Tostadas Coyoacan from the second-last photo here. Amazing fresh ingredients (in an incredible array of filling options) and excellent aguas frescas too.

Candies, sugary nougats, chocolate coated nuts and truffles, all in a beautiful old store in the historic centre of Mexico City. it really does feel like stepping back in time when you walk in the door here. The last picture is candied coconut and lime served inside an actual lime peel.

Our second Taquistadores taco tour took us across to Bushwick. Since it's my old neighborhood I mapped our journey based on a mixture of old haunts, recommendations and positive Yelp reviews. We tried tacos at five different spots:

Taqueria Sofia
Taqueria El Paisa (both locations)
Taquerias Izucar Inc
The El Paisa on Myrtle Ave was hands down the best, with their amazing condiments and little extras like fried onions (see the top photo in this post).
Sunset Park, NY

Our taco club walked a route of Sunset Park to eat tacos this summer. It was Mexican independence day and Fifth ave was dense with people, corn grills and stalls.
Don Pepe Tortas & Jugos (This place gets top marks for ambience - it's crazy in there. Great al pastor tacos and candy selection, as well as an extensive and amazing juice menu).
Taqueria El Maguey (Pictured above. This place has seating for about 10 people and is really home style and great. Excellent al pastor tacos here).
Tacos El Bronco (This is a food truck at the moment because the restaurant caught fire a while back. I had the vege taco here - it was so so, but the condiments were good).
Tacos Matamoros (This is a sit down restaurant with a huge menu. Great chorizo taco here and the back room has awesome wall murals).
Ricos Tacos (The music here is loud loud loud, and the al pastor taco was probably my least favorite. My friends ordered the pork skin taco and it was seriously blubbery).
